How many Ayat does Surah Al-Anbiya have?
Why is Surah Al-Anbiya called "The Prophets"?
• Musa and Harun (verses 48–49)
• Ibrahim (verses 51–70)
• Lut (verses 71–75)
• Nuh (verses 76–77)
• Dawud and Sulayman (verses 78–82)

Plus earlier references to Ibrahim's community and the prophets of previous nations. The Surah shows the unbroken chain of Tawheed from one prophet to the next, and closes with the declaration that Muhammad (ﷺ) is the final mercy to all the worlds. It teaches that all prophets carried the same message — worship Allah alone — and that the believers must follow their example of patience, trust, and calling to the truth.
What is the meaning of verse 107 of Surah Al-Anbiya?
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” (21:107)
This verse teaches:
• The Prophet (ﷺ) is a mercy from Allah — not a punishment, not a burden, but mercy
• The mercy is for all the worlds — not just for Muslims, not just for Arabs, but for all of humanity, the jinn, and all of creation
• The message is universal — unlike previous prophets who were sent to specific nations, Muhammad (ﷺ) was sent to all of humanity until the Day of Judgment
• His character was mercy — the Prophet (ﷺ) was described in the Qur'an as “of a great moral character” (68:4) and he himself said: “I was sent to perfect good character.” (Ahmad)
Imam Ibn Kathir said: “Allah sent Muhammad (ﷺ) as a mercy to all creation — a mercy in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever accepts him and follows him will be blessed in both worlds, and whoever rejects him will lose that mercy.”
What is the du'a of Yunus in Surah Al-Anbiya?
لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
“There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.” (21:87)
This du'a contains four powerful elements:
1. Tawheed — “There is no deity except You” — pure monotheism
2. Tasbih — “Exalted are You” — glorifying Allah above every imperfection
3. Confession — “Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers” — acknowledging one's fault
4. Complete submission — asking Allah alone for relief
Allah's response is mentioned in the very next verse: “So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.” (21:88)
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The du'a of Yunus when he called out in the whale's belly — no Muslim ever calls upon Allah with it for anything, except that Allah answers him.” (Tirmidhi 3505)
