How many Ayat does Surah Ibrahim have?
Surah Ibrahim contains exactly 52 Ayat. It is the 14th Surah of the Holy Qur'an, classified as Meccan (Makki), and it is located entirely in Juz 13. It is one of the eleven Surahs that begin with the disjoined letters (Alif Lam Ra) and is one of the few Surahs named after a prophet.
Why is Surah Ibrahim named after Prophet Ibrahim?
The Surah is named after Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (peace be upon him) because verses 35–41 contain his powerful du'a for the city of Makkah and his descendants. This du'a is one of the most comprehensive prayers in the Qur'an:
• Verse 35 — “My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.”
• Verse 36 — “My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me — indeed, he is of me; and whoever disobeys me — indeed, You are Forgiving and Merciful.”
• Verse 37 — “Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House... so make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.”
• Verse 40 — “My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants.”
• Verse 41 — “Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”
Ibrahim (AS) is also the Khalil (close friend) of Allah, the father of the prophets (through Ishaq and Ismail), the builder of the Kaaba, and the model of Tawheed. The Surah uses his story to teach gratitude, trust in Allah, and the importance of prayer for one's family.

What is the meaning of verse 7 of Surah Ibrahim?
Verse 7 is one of the greatest promises in the Qur'an and one of the most beloved verses among the righteous:
وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِي لَشَدِيدٌ
“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed: If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.”
This verse establishes:
• Gratitude brings increase — Allah promises MORE for the one who is thankful
• Ingratitude brings loss — denying Allah's favors leads to punishment
• The increase is guaranteed — “I will surely increase you” — Allah's promise is certain
• Gratitude is a choice — the servant decides to be grateful, and Allah responds
Scholars say gratitude has three levels: (1) Shukr bil-qalb — recognizing the blessing comes from Allah in the heart; (2) Shukr bil-lisan — praising Allah with the tongue; (3) Shukr bil-jawarih — using the blessing to obey Allah. Whoever fulfills these three, Allah's promise of increase is certain.
